Selamat Pulang – Final Resting Place

bali_ubud_lembu_sarcaphagus_bapak_1Selamat Pulang is a fond way of saying a final goodbye to the recently departed. In Bali, the remains of the deceased are placed in a large (sometimes up to 15-20 metres tall as pictured here) black ox sarcophagus or lembu. The lembu will be carried to the final resting place (Pura Dalem — sea facing temple) for  a traditional cremation ceremony or ngaben.
