Kaki Lima Spotted North of Ubud

Kaki limas (five legs) are rare in Ubud. If one is around, it always catches my eye. This kaki lima was spotted just north of Ubud.

The Kaki Lima – One of Ubud’s Quirky Contradictions

I like to say that you really haven’t experienced Indonesia unless you’ve tried food from a kaki lima. The phrase kaki lima is bahasa Indonesia for five legs. Five legs comes from the two wheels and one stand of a street food cart added with the two human legs of the human food vendor to make five.

Kaki limas are omnipresent in other parts of Bali and the rest of Indonesia. Perhaps the fear of lopsided competition with restaurants (in favour or kaki limas of course), sadly the kaki lima is all but non-existent in Ubud centre. Except this one.  😉

Extra assignment: when you are in Ubud, try to validate or refute this ironic fact.
